Basically the entire reason I'm watching the show is because I started seeing tons of edits of Rupert and Taggie on TikTok...... I LOVE THEM!! I feel like I need to read every book now because of them
Rupert Campbell-Black is a fictional character in Jilly Cooper's Rutshire Chronicle's series. For long time lovers of the series Rupert is THE ultimate literary sex symbol/bad boy archetype. Rupert is a wealthy former Olympic show jumper who later became a Conservative MP and Minister for Sport. Charismatic, arrogant, and notorious for his affairs, Rupert is one of the most influential figures in Rutshire society. He resides at Penscombe, his large Rutshire estate.
In the TV show Rivals which follows the book of the same name, Taggie's family moves in nextdoor to Rupert. Kind-hearted, shy, and compassionate, Taggie often struggles with self-confidence despite being admired for her warmth and beauty.
